ABOUT THE GALLERY

This gallery aims to highlight the non-European contributions and influences inherent to the technological advancements and developments born out of the Scientific Revolution. The artifacts in the virtual gallery are divided into five key categories: Microscopes and Visualizing Minutia, Wunderkammer, Maps and Colonialism, Celestial Navigation, and Natural Resources and Medical Remedies. In conversation with one another, these objects paint a rich picture of  the Scientific Revolution, illuminating the global roots of the movement, and challenge the traditional, Eurocentric narrative that has cast the Scientific Revolution as a strictly European phenomenon.
